Russia may appoint cbank head as chair of DIA board of directors
MOSCOW, Nov 1 (PRIME) -- The Russian authorities are discussing appointing the central bank’s Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina as the chairwoman of the board of directors of the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA), a spokesperson for the central bank told PRIME on Tuesday.
Media reported earlier that the central bank’s head may chair the board of directors of the DIA and will have the right to propose nominees to the post of the agency’s CEO.
The spokesperson said: “This option is being considered but the discussion has not been finished.”
The Finance Ministry earlier prepared a bill to set up a fund for the central bank to be able to invest in capital of troubled banks during their bailouts, this function is currently performed by the DIA.
